Health & Wellness Committee – Updates as of 4/20/20

The Hide-A-Way Hills Health & Wellness Committee would like to reach out to our community during this serious health pandemic to share our current goals, updates and some resources to keep you safe and healthy.

At this time, like all public events, we have been forced to cancel the majority of our fund raising events.  The March Madness bracket fundraiser is one example and the May 5K race has also been canceled.

Our primary goal has been to raise funds to complete the new HAH Fitness Center, which has been in a state of uncertainty surrounding the future allocation of amenity and operating funds.  Given the mandatory shutdown of all health clubs, restaurants and bars the immediate need for such a facility seems like a distant goal, but one that we continue to focus upon with optimism and hope.

Currently the work on the outside of the building is being completed.  This includes new siding, windows and doors.  The next phase will be to install electric and HVAC.  This will take place as funds become available.

Here are some impressive facts:

1.) To date, the committee has raised nearly $40,000 in donations from individuals and businesses.

2.) With those funds we have begun demolition, extensive repairs and improvement of the building and land that was generously donated to HAH by Frank Paniccia, a long-time resident and friend of the Hills.

3.) Major improvements to date have included replacement of the roof, plumbing and much of the foundation and concrete flooring, as well as numerous investments in inspections and permits.

The cancelation of fundraisers has cut into our ability to complete the Fitness Center.

If you are interested in helping us reach our goal to complete the Fitness Center we would encourage you to make a donation and enclose a separate check to the Hide-a-Way Hills Health & Wellness Committee along with your monthly assessment payment.  Any amount would be appreciated.  For those of you that would like to make a more visible and substantial contribution, please consider purchasing a brick ($250 for regular and $350 for large size bricks) that will include your name, lot#, or as a memorial to a loved one. These bricks will form a pathway to the front door and be a lasting part of the future planned landscaping.  The brick donation form can be found on here:

In the meantime, here are some helpful resources to keep your body and spirits strong during these challenging times:

Also we look forward to seeing many of you out walking (6  to 10 feet apart) and enjoying the spring weather.

Stay safe & well.
